An nForce2 memory bandwidth preview

Check out the memory performance on the nForce2. A 15% improvement over KT400.

EDIT: Stupid graph won't copy. Anyway, Sandra results were as follows, at default speed of 166Mhz FSB:

nVidia nForce2 SPP - Dual DDR-400 = 2335
nVidia nForce2 SPP - Single DDR-400 = 2279
nVidia nForce2 SPP - Dual DDR-333 = 2448
nVidia nForce2 SPP - Single DDR-333 = 2387
VIA KT-400 - Single DDR-333 = 2079

EDIT2: The dual DDR thing refers to having two memory sticks in slots 1 and 3.

Seems odd... Is the 333 outperforming 400?

A quirk in the nForce2 chipset seems to dislike running in async mode.

EDIT: The latest revisions of the ASUS boards even disable DDR400 at speeds over 166.

BTW, 3DMark2001SE scores look like this.

nVidia nForce2 SPP - Dual DDR-400 = 14460
nVidia nForce2 SPP - Single DDR-400 = 14393
nVidia nForce2 SPP - Dual DDR-333 = 15089
nVidia nForce2 SPP - Single DDR-333 = 14632
VIA KT-400 - Single DDR-333 = 14085

Almost 1000 points better.

Source of info for both was

That link is very misleading. The 2300+ score for 333 single mem is for running synch.

The KT400 score of only 2000+ is low. I thought asynch but they claim it was tested with 333fsb... Anyone running 333FSB should easily get 2400+ @ 333 fsb & mem.

THe idea of that review is great, but I think it is quesitonable. Nothing against the nforce... just the reviewers.
