Overclock Intelligence Agency:

A couple of months ago I had the opportunity to review some Gaming Gear from RevolTec, a company that operates under the parent company Listan. Listan also plays host to another well-known company, be quiet!. As the name implies, be quiet! specializes in producing near-silent power supplies. be quiet! currently has two models in their lineup, Straight Power and Dark Power PRO, ranging in wattage from 350-700 for the Straight Power line and 430-850 with the Dark Power PRO line (1,000 watt Dark Power PRO is just around the corner). Today we will be taking a look at the top end power supply in the Straight Power series, the 700 watt model.

be quiet! has done a nice job with their product packaging. The front cover on the box lifts up and open, with specifications on the top half and a sneak peak at the power supply itself on the bottom. The back of the box gives a detailed breakdown of the wiring system used on the 700w Straight Power. Below is a complete list of specifications, borrowed from be quiet!'s website.

Specs:

Performance:

  • 83% Efficiency.
  • Active PFC, with PF of up to 0.99
  • Up to 8 SATA connectors (depending on model)

Cooling:

  • Super slient 120 mm fan
  • Fan speed control on power supply fan and up to 3 case fans

Technology:

  • ATX12V version 2.2 and EPS12V Version  2.91 compliant.  Includes 8-pin 12v connection.
  • 4 separate 12v rails.
  • 110-240 VAC input.
  • RoHS and WEEE compatible.
All of the specs look to be in order. One thing missing from the specs list is the fact that this power supply has recently been nVidia SLI certified. Now, let's move ahead and check out the package contents...
