Buying Amazon's 7-inch tablet? Get ready to overlook some flaws
Amazon landed the first real volley in the 7-inch Android device market. Sure, the initial Kindle Fire was rough around the edges, but its shockingly low $199 price tag and integration with Amazon's services won over a few (million) consumers. Amazon sold tons of Kindle Fires in December 2011, and it wasn't long before the device held the top spot on the Android hardware charts.

Nokia has been caught red-handed trying to pass off professional photos, shot with professional cameras, as being snaps and videos taken with their Lumia 920 smartphone.
This still photo purports to show OIS (image stabilization) in action, but it is very obviously shot with a D-SLR or similar camera, and not with a Lumia phone.

Nokia has just unveiled its newest flagship smartphone, the Lumia 920 which runs Windows Phone 8.
The phone has a 4.5 inch curved touchscreen, a 1.5GHz Snapdragon S4 dual-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 32GB of storage, and a 8 mega-pixel PureView camera.
Nokia are claiming that the camera is the best currently found in any smartphone. It features a stabilized lens to minimize camera shake, and can shoot 1080p video as well as still photos.

Sony President and CEO Kaz Hirai took the stage at the IFA electronics show in Germany today to talk about the company's upcoming products—in addition to a new camera, a 4K TV, and new Windows 8 VAIO PCs (all of which we'll talk about in separate articles later today), the company also announced a new Android tablet and a handful of new Xperia smartphones that will all release between now and the end of the year.

Samsung's first Galaxy Beam, the GT-i8520, was a tremendously thick, heavy and expensive handset that very few bought. Having had a rethink, the company is now trying the whole smartphone-with-a-projector idea again with the GT-i8530. Essentially, this handset amounts to a Galaxy Advance S with a Digital Light Processing projector shoved in one end.

The Nexus 7 is now available on the Google Play store in France, Germany and Spain. The 8GB and 16GB models are both available for €199 and €249 (respectively $249 and $312, sales tax included). Google is the only seller of the 8GB model as the 16GB model will be available in selected retailers as well on September 3.
