"When IBM launched its AMD-based Opteron servers earlier this week, it played the power card by arguing that data center customers next year will find themselves paying more for electricity and cooling systems than for the computers themselves.

As much of the country appears to be cooling off after about two weeks of stifling heat and resulting power outages, IBM managed the perfect photo opportunity for its new power-saving servers and portfolio of power- and climate-management and diagnostic tools."
