The system will be sold in the United States through OEMs and value-added resellers and will be aimed at archival storage applications. InPhase hopes to sign marketing pacts with multiple archival storage system vendors once system qualifications are completed.

"We're in the last stages of qualification right now, and we'll be releasing the product in June or July. High-volume manufacturing is also being completed," said Nelson Diaz, president and CEO of six-year-old InPhase Technologies. The company's HDS300R holographic storage system, its first product, can store 300 Gbytes on a 130-mm disk. The dimensions of the HDS300R system, of its disk and media cartridge mimic those of magnetic optical (MO) drives to leverage existing infrastructure and sharpen the system's competitive position against MO drives, InPhase said.
