Towards the end of the 20th century, the phrase 'onboard graphics' moved out of the drawing board into a commercial sample of a motherboard. And then, like most things in this world, started to evolve. At first, the onboard chips were just about capable of rendering 2D graphics. The utterance of the word gaming in the same line as the onboard display was a sin. The Intel chip on their 810 motherboard was the first to demonstrate some 3D functionality.
