As we all know, for some time now its been possible to unlock an Apple iPhone to use it on another network, in fact Ebay is currently flooded with people, often charging a permium for pre-unlocked iPhones, but in a recent statement, Apple CEO Steve Jobs announced that his company will be actively attempting to prevent people from unlocking iPhones by introducing fixes in new releases of the iPhone's firmware. In doing this, Apple is playing the same hopeless game that Sony has been playing with the Platstation Portable since its release: Pitting their engineering department against a global community of hackers that want nothing more than to get a little more freedom out of a device that offers so much potential.
