Intel is wowing 'em at the IDF.  CNET News is reporting that Intel's big news is that upcoming tech is going to be brand-new from the ground up, not based on NetBurst or Pentium-M, but something entirely new, although it will obviously take advantage of what has been learned from those architectures.  It would also appear that these new chips will not support hyper-threading, because of 'power considerations'.  In addition, the chips will feature shorter pipelines and significantly lower clock speeds and power consumption.

The Inquirer reports that Google is going to be releasing its own Instant Messenger, perhaps as early as Wednesday.  Among other things, it will allow users to make phone calls via the Internet ala Skype.  Err, guys?  Do we really, REALLY need YAIM (Yet Another Instant Messenger)?

Tom's Hardware Guide has an article about a guy that has managed to build an x86 emulator for the PSP, and even has Windows95 running on it.  He says that it won't set any speed records, but it is pretty usable.
