Intel announces shipment of dual-core processors

The first dual-core processor, which Intel is starting to ship now, will be a 2.8 GHz Xeon with a 800 MHz bus and 2 MB of L2 cache on each core.

Next in line will be a 3 GHz "Paxville" along with a new E8501 chipset supporting DDR2 memory. You'll have to wait about another 60 days for this one.
