IBM, Sony and Toshiba have annouced their plans to continue R&D on the beast that is the Cell processor. They are going to storm ahead with a 32 nanometer version of the Cell during the next 5 years.

The Sony PS3 games console, due for release later this year, will use a 90nm Cell. Already, it looks set to blow the Xbox 360 out of the water despite Bill Gates subsidising the retail price. Trouble is Microsoft just can't deliver, the price is right but they don't have the stock to meet their orders.
