Sony PS3 games to be electronically distributed

It is looking like Sony is to favour online game distribution for its forthcoming console, the new PlayStation 3. PC gamers will already be familiar with Valve's Steam network. Sony appear to have something similar in mind.

No doubt the idea is to maximise profits whilst reducing risks of piracy and theft. Let's hope that they can pass on some of the savings to their customers!

Gamers can expect to see some kind of subscription deals, not just one-off game purchases. Expect Sony to have full control over their e-distribution and don't expect to see any second-hand game market!
