Global Foundaries produces 28nM chips

Fudzilla have managed to capture a pic of a Global Foundaries 28nM wafer of SRAM chips.

The significance of this is that SRAM chips are typically used asa 'proof of process' production run so that manufacturers can verify new processes in the plant.  If GF are able to produce working 28nM SRAMs , it's not unreasonable to expect them to be making real product within a year or so.

Reportedly, Global Foundaries believe the 28nM technology node is a very strategic node for them, with potential customers in both the graphics and wireless chipset markets.
