Silver Power SP-S850 PSU

From its Tagan roots we have an inexpensive, yet powerful 850W power supply from Silver Power. We find out if it's a wolf in sheep's clothing or bit of bling strapped to a brick.

From Bit-tech:

If you're wondering who Silver Power is - look no further than to its parent company: Maxpoint in Germany (or Nanopoint in the UK), and you may be more familiar with the Tagan brand, which it also manufacturers. In the past, Silver Power has found its way into many pre-built machines sold by large brands, but only recently has the brand made its way into the channel for us to buy.

Corsair shows off video of cheap power supply units failing

In a video posted on their website, Corsair claims that the 450w Brand X PSUs exploded at just 75% loading.  Needless to say, this is a promotional video designed to encourage PC builders to use more expensive power supplies.  Something which we do endorse here at AOA Forums.

From Bit-tech:

To say that BFG's power supplies have come long way since we looked at them this time last year is an understatement. Its new breed, launched a few months ago, has been co-designed with the help of industry expert JonnyGuru, of power supply review "fame".
