HTC's Smart is the Taiwanese company's cheapest handset yet. Designed around the cost-cutting Brew operating system it eschews such bells and whistles as Wi-Fi, GPS or an app store, but it still has quite a few things going for it.

There's 60 Android devices currently, and worldwide over 100k Android phones are being activated every day. 

In the U.S. Android has reportedly passed Apple's iPhone in sales, and worldwide it is expected to surpass the iPhone in units deployed by 2011.  The secret sauce to its success is no secret; Google reemphasized it today.  To date it has 60 Android devices on 59 carriers in 48 countries.

Apple has been very aggressive with its prosecution of its case against Gizmodo since the tech site outed the next generation iPhone on its site a few weeks ago. New court documents reveal that according to Apple, it is suffering huge losses in sales as people sit on the sidelines waiting for the next round of hardware.

HTC's smart phone success is a big part of why Google's Android OS recently passed Apple's iPhone in market share.  Apple isn't exactly being gracious about its rival's success, though.  It has sued HTC for the supposed violation of 20 patents, including patents that cover using a sliding finger to unlock a phone, using processor undervolting via interrupts, and object oriented graphics.

Sharp Announces 3D Camera For Mobile Phones

The HD system uses two small lenses that can simultaneously capture separate images to create synchronized, 720p video images.

Sharp Corp. said Wednesday it is planning to begin production on the world’s first three-dimensional camera system for mobile phones and other portable devices by the end of the year. The consumer electronics leader said in a statement that the module will be capable of capturing high-definition (720p) video images.
