Defcon Demo released
Written by Pitch

Defcon is a gritty, but challanging thermonucler wargame. Inspired by the Cold War, Defcon is an instant classic in my opinion. Endlessly fun and absolutely great on a LAN.

The games motto sums up the gameplay exactly.

Quote:
It's Global Thermonuclear War, and nobody wins. But maybe - just maybe - you can lose the least.

Mutually Assured Destruction, pretty eh?

It's atmospheric, and tatical; Coordinate your strikes with allies, or turn on them at the last moment and gain the first strike while crippling their chance to retaliate. Strategically deploy your forces to achieve maximum damage on your enemies while doing your best to reduce the amount of casualites you recieve. The demo is availible to download from AOA here. Oblivion Natural Environments Mod, AMD CPU Optimizer, and More!
Written by Dsio

Natural Environments is a very well made mod for Oblivion that makes the outdoor environments even more stunning than normal to look at, adds more realistic and natural weather, more realistic foliage, and makes a real difference, breathing new life into the game.  Installation instructions are included in the package.  This has only been on AOA for less than two weeks, and has had massive popularity in that time, with many people raving about it.  Very Highly Recommended for Oblivion owners.

AMD has also been busy at work squeezing more out of their Athlon 64 CPUs, and have released a new "dual core optimizer" to further increase performance of dual core chips, by making changes how applications access timing information.  It has been shown that this new tool actually improves performance in single core applications as well as dual core, so this is well worth downloading if you own an Athlon 64 CPU.  Performance gains are in the order of 5-10% in some cases, and the best part is that this is a free gift from AMD.

The official Oblivion Version 1.1 Patch has been released by Bethesda Softworks.  This patch contains a massive slew of bugfixes, improvements to SLI and Crossfire performance, and most importantly, a new "Very Low Quality" setting, which should improve performance on older video cards such as the Geforce FX / ATI 9600 series.

We also have a new TweaksRUs Xtreme-G Modified driver set, based on the Nvidia Forceware 91.31 driver set.  The guys at TRU have changed the naming system of their drivers to simplify their releases, and now will be putting out a single driver, called "Xtreme-G Select" for each Forceware release.

The Forceware 91.31 driver set that this modified driver is based on are a very interesting set indeed.  They include support for Nvidia's new 7950 GX2 video card, along with the new Nvidia control panel (thankfully, TweaksRUs give you the option to use the classic control panel that we all know and love).  There is also a large number of PureVideo improvements including:  Noise reduction post processing, Image sharpening post processing, Improved inverse telecine algorithm, improved compatability with 3rd party Mpeg-2 decoders.  Along with this, the 91.31 XG driver set offers top notch Image Quality, and very high performance and stability.  Highly Recommended.

Both BattleField 2 and F.E.A.R. have been updated recently, and we have both now available at AOAFiles.com.  The new F.E.A.R. Patch includes two new multiplayer game modes, "Capture All" and "Control", among other smaller changes.  The BattleField 2 Patch includes an all new Co-Op mode, as well as a "Vehicle Air Drop" feature.  Along with the new features are a very large number of bugfixes and gameplay tweaks.

To go with the latest patches for your favourite games, download the very latest TweaksRUs Modified driver sets for your ATI or Nvidia video card.  TweaksRUs Xtreme-G (Nvidia) and WarCat (ATI) are modified to improve performance and image quality beyond the standard driver releases.  This means a modified version of a driver release can give you that extra image quality and performance for free, which of course is the goal of all overclockers.  If you havn't tried a modified driver before, these are highly recommended, and have earned a cult following over the last year.  Very Highly Recommended.

PhysX 2.4.3 Beta, and Nvidia Forceware 87.25
Written by Dsio
Sunday, 21 May 2006 06:37

There has been a quite impressive response to the new Ageia PhysX drivers section, with almost 50 people downloading drivers for these very new cards in the last three weeks.  We now have a new Ageia driver, version 2.4.3 Beta, which improves in game performance considerably, and should be the basis for future versions.  Very well worth getting if you have one of these cutting edge Physics Processing Units.

There is also good news on the Nvidia driver front, with Nvidia releasing a new driver, and driver series, to be sent out with review samples of the new 7900GX2 card.  As with all new card launches, Nvidia has saved up a performance bump to go along with this new driver, which is of benefit to all Geforce 6/7 series owners.
