Recently, we saw some images of the new 3D based desktop manager for linux, called XGL, which uses OpenGL to render the desktop, with a range of very impressive special effects.

There is now a Linux Live CD called Kororaa based on the Gentoo Linux Operating system, that uses XGL right off the disk!  This means that you simply download the ISO, burn it to a disk, boot off it, and you have a fully operational linux system, running the XGL 3D desktop manager.

It really is one of the easiest, and coolest ways to get into Linux!

Alternatively there is a full installation package for Kororaa.  This full installer version does NOT use the XGL 3D desktop however, the next release of it is expected to!  It comes in two parts, an installer, and a packages disk.  Both of the disks are required for the installation.
