Sony has issued an apology and software update after a barrage of complaints about its new handheld console.
The PlayStation Vita went on sale in Japan at the weekend. Users have described unresponsive touchscreens, crashes and freezes.

With Assassin's Creed: Revelations being the third Assassin's Creed release in as many years, a fear of trepidation that the series would be back with diminishing returns isn't unfounded. Look at what an annual release schedule did to the once-great Guitar Hero: it takes time for developers to create and implement new gameplay systems and features. I went into Revelations skeptical and expecting to be unimpressed—and being wrong never felt this good.

This week was dominated by Battlefield 3, and we spent many late nights playing the game for review. The single-player portion of the game may be terrible, but the multiplayer is absolutely amazing. We're still hearing reports of Origin giving people trouble when they go to play their game or redeem a content code, so be aware that the problems may not be completely fixed.
What else was big news last week? A little game called Uncharted 3, for starters. It's out on Tuesday, and it's amazing. Come read our review to find out why.

Dice community manager Daniel Matros has dropped an internet bombshell by stating that a PC built around the Battlefield 3 recommended system requirements, which were released earlier this week, will only be able to run the game at Medium settings.

Last weekend the hardest of the hardcore descended upon Los Angeles to take part in Call of Duty XP, a convention celebrating everything Call of Duty. Each attendee paid $150 for their ticket—but it's hard to quibble over the cost of the ticket when 100 percent of the proceeds went to a charity that supports veterans—and the closing concert featured Kanye West. A new Modern Warfare 3-themed Xbox 360 was shown, highlighting Microsoft's dominance in Activision's world.
