Gothic 3 is a cross between a first-person shooter and a role playing game. The game is set in a fantasy world, the kingdom of Myrtana, which is now over-run by invading orcs.  You get to play a hero type character and can develop various skills and abilities during your struggle against the orcs.

Game Overview

Gothic 3 is, as the name suggests, the third installment of this series. The game play is single-player only and features a larg 3D world, in which your character can freely roam and complete various quests.

The game soundtrack has been awarded the title "Best game soundtrack ever" by the German magazine GameStar. The soundtrack features the Bochum Symphony Orchestra, Gocoo, Corvus Corax, the FILMHarmonic Choir Prague and the S.A.M. Gospel Choir. It is very apparent that a lot of work has gone in to the music for Gothic 3.

Straight in to the Action

The story begins on the coast of Khorinis and you must immediately engage in fighting with the orcs. Once the band of orcs are defeated, the first quest can be obtained from the NPC in the screenshot below. It is important to chat with all characters encountered during your journeys, some provide useful tips and information. Others can assist you with training and will be happy to trade items and gold with you.
