"iPod manufacturer Foxconn persuaded a court to freeze the bank accounts of two journalists who reported that the firm mistreated workers in China.

A Chinese subsidiary of Taiwanese Foxconn, Hongfujin Precision Industry Shenzhen, wants $3.8m in damages from the journalists.

It will only take the journalists around 800 years to earn such a sum, their employer, the China Business News noted.

Reporter Wang You and editor Weng Bao wrote articles for the China Business News in mid-June, claiming that Foxconn production line staff in southern China were coerced into working excessive overtime. They claimed that workers stand at the assembly line for 12 hours or more per day and only earn $44 per month."
