Favu found this one and sent it in.

Markus Egger decided he wanted a 5.1 surround system .  Rather than shell out the bucks to buy a pre-fabbed system, he decided to build one from scratch - out of concrete.

While rather unusual, there are apparently some very good acoustical reasons for doing this; evidently, the dense structure of concrete helps with the bass response of the enclosure.

Although the actual article instructions are in German, the pictures give a pretty good idea of what is going on.  Markus constructed wooden forms for the exterior casting, then made a second set of interior forms to create the 'lost-wax' casting used for the inside of the speaker housings.  The concrete is reinforced with steel mesh for additional strength and to prevent shattering.
