Large scale DNS hacker's attack foiled

Yesterday saw a serious attack on important DNS servers in California.  DNS servers are an imprtant part of the nuts and bolts of the internet, which allow website names to be looked-up and resolved to a specific server on the net.  The Internet won't work correctly without them.

The attack which took place last night affected perhaps 3 of 13 such servers.  However, web users are unlikely to have noticed this attack thanks to  the current resiliency of the server set-up.

Presently, it looks like most of the data which bombarded the servers came from South Korea.  The attack is still being investigated.
