Unlocked iPhones break after Apple update

It seems that Apple might have been telling the truth about hacked iPhones not working after being updated. A number of people have discovered that updating their iPhone to version 1.1.1 has caused it to reject the SIM card with a "Incorrect SIM" message. Checking the IMEI number of the phone seems to show "004999010640000", rather than the correct IMEI number.

As yet, no-one seems to know quite what happened during the update process. Some people are claiming that iPhones that have not been hacked are also suffering. However, some people are promising that they will release a tool that will restore the iPhone to a brand new state (IE, without the unlocks).

Have you been bitten by a failed iPhone update? Let us know !
