Hitachi working on 4TB hard drive

Expects to have drives available by 2011

Hitachi claims to have made a nanotechnology breakthrough, involving even smaller read/write heads than those currently found on consumer hard drives.

Current terrabyte drives can store about 200 gigabits of data per square inch.  Hitachi's new technology should be able to squeeze 1 terrabit on to a square inch of magnetic disc.
