British hacker loses extradition appeal

Gary McKinnon, the infamous hacker from Glasgow who has been accused of commiting, what the US government claim to be, the biggest military hack ever, has lost his extradition appeal to the US. If convicted, McKinnon could now face life in jail, thousands of miles away from his home.

The 42-year-old admitted breaking into the computers from his London home but said he sought information on UFOs. Mr McKinnon asked the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg to delay his extradition pending a full appeal to the court against his extradition but his application was refused.
