Big Brother cometh

The UK police have now been granted the power to remotely monitor and search PCs in the United Kingdom.  So, they could feasably use tools such as key-loggers and trojans, normally associated with criminals, without seeking permission from the courts.  All they will need is the nod from a Cheif Constable.

Civil liberties groups are reported to be voicing concerns over these new surveillance powers.  "This is no different from breaking down someone's door, rifling through their paperwork and seizing their computer hard drive.", says Shami Chakrabarti, director of the human rights campaign group Liberty.
