MS Patch Day, and Pentium Thermal Throttling Exploit

It's patch day once again, and Microsoft has released an alarming number of new security related patches.  If you haven't already done so, you should update your machines ASAP.  You can go to Microsoft's Windows Update Site for more info.

While we are on the subject of security, Federal Computer Week Online is reporting that security researchers at the CanSecWest/core06 security conference last week announced the existence of a flaw in the thermal throttling technology of Pentium-family CPUs (PIII and up) that would render them vulnerable to a cyber-attack and allow them to be completely taken over by the bad guys.  The good news?  Because of the way MS has implemented certain things in WindowsXP, it would appear to NOT be vulnerable to this attack, according to this blog post entry from one of the people at the conference.
