The enemy within

We hear a great deal about the security threat of viruses and malware. However, it seems that data security in general is becoming an ever increasing priority according to a survey carried out by Infosurv Market Research.

Primary concerns included data theft, insider threats and break-ins by outsiders.

The problem with many computer systems is that once someone one has broken through the network's outer defenses, there's little in place to prevent them from roaming the entire organisation's systems. In many cases, even the outer defenses are nothing more than simple password protection. All too often passwords are left as the software/hardware vendor's default, which is no great secret!
