Developers can now compete for total cash prizes of $55,000 (around £33,468) put up by Augmented Reality platform creators Layar.

Ten developers will be awarded the prizes for "the best concepts for useful and unique layers" using the recently launched Layar Vision platform extension. This augmented reality tool allows mobile phone users to hold their phone over posters, magazines and newspapers and view digital content that they can interact with. According to the Layar team, the application is already installed on 10 million mobile devices.
